Length: Single Shot
Rating:  4 stars out of 5

Myles, a former minor league baseball player and little league coach and his buddy Todd have a lot in common. They are both single dads, both love baseball and camping and their sons are friends. They also touch each other sexually a few times a year after the kids are in bed and Myles figures it’s all just about having fun and letting out a bit of steam. But recently their relationship seems to be heating up and undergoing changes and he wonders if Todd is having second thoughts about their late night tradition.

Todd has cared about Myles since recovering from the death of his husband 3 years ago, but Myles still has his feet firmly planted in both camps and dates women occasionally even if his dates don’t end up in bed. Lately Myles seems to be taking a step forward toward a new bond with Todd but then he changes in midstream and takes two steps back. One night they make a huge gain in their sexual relationship and things seem to be headed in the right direction but Myles does his usual, causing Todd to reassess everything.

Carbon and Ash is a really sweet love story about two men who have both suffered through major upheavals in their lives – divorce and death, and they have been coasting for a while when it appears that they may have waited too long. They both think about dating other people and Myles seems to get it at last that maybe he wants much more from Todd. Myles was a bit dim in not realizing how much they both care for each other until he comes close to losing what they have, meanwhile Todd is waiting in the on-deck circle to be called into the batters’ box and he has to decide on a strategy before three strikes and he’s out. Even if you don’t know anything about the game of baseball you’ll like this story of two men who finally saw the light.
