Pender Mackie lives in Canada though she spent her childhood years in England.

An imaginative child, Pender wasn't a willing student. Her father, deciding some incentive was needed, promised her a pony as soon as she could read.

Properly motivated, Pender picked up a book and discovered the joys of fiction. Though her infatuation with ponies didn't last, she still loves a good story.

A technical writer for almost twenty years, Pender spends her daily commute making up characters, romantic plots, and daydreaming.

Pender has several short stories published and two free reads available for download. When she's not doing endless laundry, she's busy coaxing another story into shape.

You need to be logged in. When you are, and when you're on any of the wiki pages you can edit (including all your own pages), you'll see the floating toolbox at top-right of your screen. Cick EDIT to open the page up for editing.

You select text just as you do in your word processor: hold down the mouse button and drag over. Then, see the toolbox, right above? It's full of familiar icons. See the Make Link icon? Same as in Microsoft Word, Blogger, WordPress, LiveJournal. Clicking the icon opens a dialog box. Paste in the link ... which might be the link to your website, blog, Amazon, your author page here on the wiki, or any of your books' wiki pages. Click on INSERT to complete the add-link process, then Save and Close the page. Simple.

You can place text, images and videos into your wiki pages using this method. Then you can change the text on your page to be any color, size or font. You can turn any text that you have typed or pasted into links ... you can make those links to anywhere on the www by pasting a URL into the dialog ... and you can build a network of your pages here on the wiki, like a mini website inside the Bookshelf, to showcase yourself and your books. For instance, a page can have many images, so you can build a "booklist" of your covers, and each cover can link to a wiki page devoted to the book itself.

Notice that all the tools are represented by icons ... notice that all the most often-used tools have icons that are the same as in Word, and at Blogger, WordPress and so forth. You've seen these tools -- how often, and in how many places?! You know them intimately, so you're ready to "turn key and drive away."

The best news is that you can design you pages any way you want them designed. You don't have to stick to this template -- or any template. Soon, you'll see how the tools work (same as in your word processor, we promise!), and you can have your images anywhere, at any size ... have your text any color, shape or size, and have your links go anywhere.

Remember that once your books' pages have been built, you need to add your titles to our index lists, so people can find you. To do this, make sure you're logged in ... see the floating toolbox ... open the page up for editing. Notice the FORMAT of the rest of the page, and stick to it, please. Covers are a max of 100 pixels high. Blurbs should be 4 or 5 lines at most. Links on our index pages point to wiki pages, not, repeat not to your website or blog, and especially not to shopping carts!!

Want to use this template to make several pages? Easy. Print out these steps and go for it...

1) Log in. Go to your template page.Click EDIT in your toolbar to open the page up for editing.

2) Click the CODE EDITOR button (foot of screen) to show the code you never otherwise see.

3) Right click anywhere among the code, and choose SELECT ALL.

4) Click the CLOSE button to close the template page's editing window.

5) Select NEW from your floating toolbar.

6) In the "make page dialog," give your new page a PAGE TITLE ... then click SUBMIT.

7) When the editing window opens, click the CODE EDITOR button (foot of screen).

8) Click inside the editing window. Choose PASTE to put the template page code into a new page.

9) Click the RICH TEXT EDITOR button to return to the familiar word processor type editing screen.

10) Edit to your heart's content, as you would in Word, Blogger etc. When you're done ...

11) Click the SAVE AND CLOSE button (foot of screen).

12) Grab a coffee ... all finished!

With your author page and your book pages made, and your books indexed, you're done. The last thing on your "to do" list is to drop us a line, tell us you're up and running, so we can add you to the Authors A-Z Master List. It doesn't take long to see how it all works, and you're welcome to make as many pages as you need to showcase your book list. Have fun... enjoy!
